Tasting Notes

Nose

Gentle and earthy — spice, caramel, pine, lemon zest, fresh-cut grass, white chocolate, sea salt, toffee, roasted pecans, distant smoke and sherry

Palate

Sea-salted rich caramel — brown sugar, baking spices, cinnamon apple, charcoal smoke, burned mandarin peel, clove, the island peat adding genuine character beneath the sweetness

Finish

Medium — smoke and caramel lingering, the eight years providing more depth than most budget blends achieve, clean and satisfying

Expert Review

7/10

The budget blend that punches far above its price class — peated island malts matched with Speyside and Highland malts plus grain whisky. Sea salt, rich caramel, baking spices, and charcoal smoke. From Ian Macleod Distillers. A bargain that whisky critics love.
