7.7/10Ichiro's Wine Wood Reserve is a confident, well-constructed Japanese blended malt that justifies its price through careful cask work and honest bottling strength. A 7.7/10 whisky that rewards curiosity about what lies beyond the big-name Japanese producers.

12 reviewsI enjoyed this more than I expected from a blended malt, the wine wood aging gives it a nice fruity sweetness with some oak and vanilla underneath. That said, at nearly £95 I keep thinking about what else I could grab at that price point. It's a solid dram on the rocks but not one I'd rush to rebuy.

15 March 2026Been chasing Ichiro's bottles for a while now and the Wine Wood Reserve is just beautiful. You get this gorgeous nose of red berries and honey, then the palate opens up with toffee, gentle oak, and a long fruity finish. The 46.5% ABV is a sweet spot — enough body to sip neat all evening. Worth every penny in my opinion.

7 March 2026The sherry and wine wood finish really comes through on this one — dried fruits, a bit of plum jam, and a warm spice on the back end. At 46.5% it's got enough punch to hold up neat without being harsh. Ichiro's stuff is consistently interesting and this doesn't disappoint.

7 February 2026Had this at a tasting last month and it's pleasant enough — soft fruit notes, a touch of cinnamon, mild oak. It's easy drinking and well balanced but I was expecting a bit more complexity given the hype around Ichiro's. Not bad by any means, just didn't blow me away the way some Japanese whiskies have.
