Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich sherry-driven fruit — plums, raisins, apricots, peaches — heather honey, floral lavender, glacé cherries, gentle aromatic smoke like burning moss

Palate

Creamy and full-bodied — honey, toffee, espresso, cinnamon, allspice, fruit conserves with a spicy undercurrent, the heather peat threading through everything

Finish

Long and warming — starts fruity and sweet, turns woody and spicy, closes with a lingering whiff of smoke, the 18 years of maturation perfectly integrated

Expert Review

9/10

Named Best Spirit in the World by F. Paul Pacult's Spirit Journal. The most northerly Scotch whisky distillery, founded 1798 in Kirkwall, Orkney by Magnus Eunson — a church officer and illicit distiller. Heather peat from Hobbister Moor gives distinctive floral smoke. Predominantly first-fill sherry-seasoned European and American oak. Rebranded 'Viking Pride' in 2017. Whisky Connosr 89/100.
