Tasting Notes

Nose

Fragrant and floral — heather, spice, quite sweet and fruity with apricot, orange peel, marmalade, a touch of tobacco, fennel in the background

Palate

Smooth and honeyed — citrus fruits, malt, distinctive wood smoke, sea salt, the sherry cask influence adding dried fruit sweetness, tempered malt sweetness with a light mouthfeel

Finish

Medium length — spicy oak, ginger, a touch of honey, soft fruits, the Orkney character persisting gently

Expert Review

8/10

The bridge between all the main styles of Scotch — simultaneously floral, sweet, and gently smoky. Matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks on Orkney, the most northerly Scotch distillery. Viking Honour is the rebrand of the classic 12 Year Old. An excellent entry-level single malt.
