I drink most of my whiskies neat and this one rewards patience. First few sips are all malt and coastal salt, then ripe pear and vanilla start coming through as it sits in the glass. Good stuff from a distillery that deserves more attention.

For a 10 year old this is remarkably complex. Big Highland honey and orchard fruit on the nose, then at 55.4% it delivers serious heat that opens up beautifully with a few drops of water. One of the better Glenglassaugh single casks I've tried — well worth the £88.
