Tasting Notes

Nose

Old leather, polished mahogany, dried figs, walnut oil and a faint whisper of pipe tobacco.

Palate

Dense and oily — treacle, bitter orange peel, dark chocolate, stewed prunes and oak tannin held in check by a spoonful of honey.

Finish

Exceptionally long, drying, earthy, with a final echo of sherry cask and resinous wood.

Expert Review

9/10

A half-century in sherry wood at Ballindalloch — Glenfarclas 1953, bottled 2003, one of the great statements of the family-owned Speyside house.
