Tasting Notes

Nose

Vanilla, toffee, green apple, baking spice — allspice, mace — biscuity, oatmeal quality with Campbeltown coastal saltiness

Palate

Salty caramel, vanilla, sultanas and raisins from the PX, golden syrup, ripe peach, malty oat-cake, light peat smoke and charred wood, black pepper and ginger

Finish

Medium — ginger and gentle smoke, slightly drying, raisin and salted caramel carrying through — Campbeltown character at a budget price

Expert Review

7.5/10

Matured in first-fill bourbon casks then finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Non-chill filtered, natural colour, 46%. At £28, one of Scotch whisky's best value propositions — multiple reviewers call it the best sub-£30 single malt available. Campbeltown character, 46% ABV, no chill filtration, PX sherry influence at this price is nearly unmatched.
