Ten years of maturation shows real craft here. Yes it's £97 but I think it's worth it for something this well made and this different from the usual suspects.

Poured this for my tasting group and nobody guessed it was German. Lovely nose of pear and light spice, and it opens up beautifully with a few drops of water. The finish is clean and medium-length with a hint of toasted oak. At 43% ABV it's sessionable without being thin.

At 43% it's very approachable neat — got honey, baked apple, and a gentle malty sweetness on the nose. Ten years has done this well. Would happily buy again if the price came down a bit.
