25 reviewsI tried Batch 1 at a tasting last year and this is a step up. The 66.6% hits you but there's real substance underneath — toffee, toasted grain, a bit of smoke that lingers. Had it neat and honestly didn't want to add water. One of the better young American single malts I've had.

2 April 2026Picked this up out of curiosity since I'd never tried anything from 291 distillery. It's young and it shows — a bit rough around the edges with some raw grain coming through. But there's good stuff in there too, like baking spice and caramel. I drink it with a single ice cube and it works well enough.

7 March 2026At 66.6% ABV this thing is a flamethrower, but add a few drops of water and it opens up beautifully — brown sugar, charred oak, and a hint of dried fruit. For a 3-year-old single malt from Colorado, I'm genuinely impressed. Boutique-y always picks interesting casks and this one delivers.

16 February 2026Look, £93.50 for a 3-year-old is a tough sell no matter how you slice it. That said, the whisky itself is solid — big cereal notes on the nose, some leather and spice on the palate, and the high proof gives it serious presence. I'd buy a dram at a bar but probably not a whole bottle.
