Blue Spot is solid single pot still — creamy, fruity, with a nice peppery finish. But at nearly £95 for a 7 year old, I keep comparing it to what else I could buy at that price point. I enjoy it neat but I expected a bit more depth for the money.

Straight from the bottle at 58.4% it's a bit of a firebreather honestly. Once you tame it with water though, you get lovely stone fruit and vanilla with a lingering warm spice. Not my everyday pour but I'm happy to have it on the shelf.

Been rationing my bottle since I picked it up last month. There's this beautiful mix of dark chocolate, clove, and ripe pear that works brilliantly after a meal. The high ABV keeps it warming without being harsh. Really well balanced for a cask strength release.

At 58.4% this doesn't mess around. Big hit of green apple and toasted oak on the nose, then waves of honey and baking spice on the palate. I add just a few drops of water and it opens right up. For a 7 year old it drinks well above its age.
