7.9/10A 17-year-old blended malt at cask strength for under a hundred pounds — the kind of quiet, well-priced whisky that the age-statement debate keeps trying to make you forget about.

12 reviewsPicked this up hoping the age would translate into something memorable. It's solid — honey and oak up front, some nice baking spice on the finish — but at £97.50 I expected a bit more complexity for a 17 year old. Drinks well neat and the high ABV carries the flavours without being harsh. Just feels like it's missing that wow factor.

6 March 2026Seventeen years has done this one a lot of favours. Rich dried fruit and toffee on the nose, with a warming spice that hits nicely at 53%. I added a few drops of water and it opened up beautifully — vanilla, stewed apples, a hint of leather. At just under a hundred quid it's not cheap, but for a well-aged cask strength blend I think it's fair.

10 February 2026I've had single malts at twice the price that don't deliver what this does. The nose is all Christmas cake and orange peel, and at cask strength it's got real depth — dark chocolate, toasted almonds, a long peppery finish. One of the better blended malts I've tried this year and I keep reaching for it over flashier bottles on my shelf.

4 February 2026Grabbed this on a whim and I'm glad I did. At 53% it's got proper weight to it — big sherry notes, walnuts, a touch of smoke lurking underneath. My wife even liked it and she normally won't touch anything over 46%. The age shows in how smooth it is despite the strength. Would happily buy another bottle.
