8.2/10

A cask strength Blair Athol from Berry Bros & Rudd's Odyssey Range — twelve years old, single cask, and priced fairly at £89.95. A Highland malt that rewards patience and speaks with quiet authority.

Clara Johansson VIPsAllowed — Solid Highland dram, great neat
8/10

I've been working through the Odyssey Range and this Blair Athol holds its own. Neat, you get a lovely waxy honey character with some gentle oak spice that builds. At cask strength it's surprisingly approachable for 57.8%, though a splash of water brings out more floral notes. Good but not quite mind-blowing.

For under £90 this is a seriously impressive single cask Blair Athol. The nose is all honeyed malt and stewed orchard fruits, and at 57.8% it opens up beautifully with a few drops of water. Twelve years in what I'm guessing is a first-fill sherry cask has done wonders here — rich dried fruit and baking spice on the palate. Berry Bros picked a cracker with cask 303637.
