I have been looking forward to getting my hands on Redemption Rye. Bottled at 46% ABV and priced at $30.00. 46% ABV, it promises genuine character.
Nose
The nose is faint but pleasant. I am greeted with soft notes of grain and rye spice, with hints of orange or lemon citrus. There is a touch of mint at the very back end. The nose is mild and enjoyable, it doesnt envelop the room or really permeate much outside the glass. Toasted pecans with red apples. It is sweet with a little punchiness to get you to take notice. There is a hint of sweet pie crust along with young leather and oak. It is sweet and brief, much like the nose. There is a decent punch after the whiskey opens up, but overall maintains approachability. The finish is watery and equally disappears across the palate.
Palate
This is fine rye whiskey. It is, admittedly, gutless. However, this is a standard offering and not some specialty release asking for a premium price. For $30, its a very serviceable whiskey. I think this will be good as the backbone in a lighter rye cocktail. Its pleasant and easy to enjoy. For a flagship this does a good job of representing the brand and what the brand may have to offer.

The Bottom Line
Redemption Rye is fine — not bad, not great, just fine. At $30.00. 46% ABV, I think there are better options in this range if you are willing to look around.
