Tasting Notes

Nose

I enjoyed the spiciness on the nose, opening with faint apricot and a stronger plastic note, like vinyl on a warm day.

Palate

The word that springs to mind is “punchy.” The whiskey hits hard off the bat, with high rye and a beautifully balanced heat and pleasantly oily mouthfeel. Notes of tangerine, macadamia nut, and cloves are consistent throughout.

Finish

Comments: Latest On The Whiskey Wash Mash bill of 95% Rye and 5% Malted Barley. Aged 4+ years in American White Oak, produced and distilled in Kentucky

Filmland Spirits “Ryes of the Robots Extended Cut” Rye Whiskey — at $74.95, the question is whether it delivers on its promise. I sat down with a pour to find out.

Finish

Filmland Spirits is something special, a brand of whiskey that isn’t just a gimmick, but a thoroughly thought-out experiment in blending passions. Film and whiskey just go together perfectly! “Ryes of the Robots Extended Cut” is a wonderful rye whiskey, and I’m excited to enjoy it with some orange-infused simple syrup and orange bitters for a tasty Old Fashioned and a fun classic sci-fi film.

The Bottom Line

Filmland Spirits “Ryes of the Robots Extended Cut” Rye Whiskey is outstanding — one of those bottles that reminds you why you fell in love with whiskey in the first place. If you see it at $74.95, do not hesitate. This one earns a permanent spot on the shelf.
