Tasting Notes

Nose

Green apple, basil, honey, white grapefruit and a delicate floral lift.

Palate

Light and crisp — grapefruit, green grape, honeyed malt, white pepper and a touch of vanilla oak.

Finish

Short, clean and gently peppery with lingering citrus and honey.

First Impressions

Launched in 2016, Toki (the Japanese word for 'time') was designed specifically for the global market and the booming Japanese highball trend. Unusually, it leads with Hakushu malt and Chita grain rather than Yamazaki.

Distillery & Heritage

Toki marries malt from Hakushu and Yamazaki with grain whisky from Chita. The blend was created by Shinji Fukuyo as a versatile, mixable, food-friendly whisky.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The nose is fresh and citrussy, with green apple and basil. The palate is light and clean, with grapefruit zing, honeyed sweetness and a faint pepper bite.

Verdict

The perfect highball whisky.
