Tasting Notes

Nose

Warm stout aromas — soy, espresso, dark chocolate. Milk, vanilla, bright oak, toffee. The stout barrel influence is immediately apparent and inviting.

Palate

Thick with dark stout flavour — toffee sweetness, milk chocolate, warm barley, malt and vanilla. Chocolatey and rich with light rye spice. Creamy caramel, layers of orange and plum. The 200 Fathoms Imperial Stout casks add genuine beer-derived complexity.

Finish

Long — caramel, chocolate digestives, malty notes, lemon curd. The stout character sustains impressively.

Teeling Stout Cask Finish creates a whiskey-beer cycle. First, Teeling whiskey ages in barrels. Those barrels then hold Galway Bay Brewery's 200 Fathoms Imperial Stout. Finally, Teeling whiskey returns to the now stout-seasoned casks for a three-month finishing. Each stage adds a layer of complexity.

The stout cask influence is the defining feature. The imperial stout leaves behind dark chocolate, espresso, malt and a thick, stout-like richness that no other cask type can provide. On Teeling's naturally bright, citrus-forward blend, this dark richness creates a compelling contrast.

Teeling Stout Cask is a top choice for indulgent sipping and an obvious companion for Irish coffee. The beer-whiskey crossover is genuine and well-executed, and the Galway Bay collaboration adds craft credibility. One of Teeling's most distinctive and enjoyable small batch releases.
