Tasting Notes

Nose

Powerful and growing — sweet malt, ripe red berries, smoke, brine, explosion of pepper, gathering like a storm, youthful but rounded

Palate

Mellow and rich — then very spicy, tongue-coating sweetness with nutty smokiness, cranberries and blackcurrants, peat always present, black pepper, the toasted oak adding warmth

Finish

Peppery and maritime — the storm breaking, smoke and sweetness in conversation, the 45.8% providing the Skye character with full intensity

First Impressions

Talisker Storm — launched 2013 as an NAS that's punchier than the 10. Matured in refill and toasted American oak at 45.8%. 'An intense Talisker with profoundly maritime character.'

Tasting

Powerful nose with berries and smoke. Rich palate with cranberries and black pepper. Peppery maritime finish.

The Verdict

Talisker Storm earns a 7 — more intense than the 10, though the NAS means less consistency. The storm metaphor is earned: intense, maritime, peppery. At £35, a wilder Skye experience.
