Tasting Notes

Nose

Sea spray, salted caramel, banana fritters, old oak, heather, pineapple, honey, cool mint, brine — mature yet recognisably Talisker

Palate

Chilli chocolate, smoky barley, nectarines, honeyed smoked dried fruit, raspberry, salt, subtle pepper — woody but restrained, aged yet vital

Finish

Long — smoke turning sweet, cedar, soft dried berries, lingering tropical fruitiness — 25 years perfectly integrated

First Impressions

Talisker 25 — a quarter century from Skye's only distillery. Part of Diageo's Special Releases. The question with any 25-year-old peated whisky: does it retain the distillery character? The answer: absolutely.

Tasting

Sea spray and salted caramel nose with banana fritters and heather. Chilli chocolate palate with nectarines and smoky dried fruit. Long finish with cedar and tropical fruit. Mature but recognisably, vibrantly Talisker.

The Verdict

Talisker 25 earns a 9 — one of the finest aged expressions from any island distillery. At £800, luxury territory, but the whisky retains its maritime soul after a quarter century. Peat, pepper, sea — timeless.
