Tasting Notes

Nose

Deep stewed apple, honeyed raisins, dark chocolate, orange marmalade and roasted hazelnut.

Palate

Rich and silky — toffee apple, sticky dates, honeyed cereals, dark chocolate orange and a gentle Christmas-pudding spice.

Finish

Long, warming and sweetly oaked, with raisins, cocoa and a final hint of cinnamon.

First Impressions

The Singleton of Glen Ord 18 takes everything that makes the 12 charming and turns the volume up.

Distillery & Heritage

Glen Ord, on the Black Isle north of Inverness, has been distilling since 1838 and is the only operational distillery on the peninsula.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The European oak dominates the profile here: raisins, fig, dark chocolate and warm spice. But the Glen Ord apple-and-honey signature is still clearly visible underneath.

Verdict

A genuinely luxurious Highland malt.
