Tasting Notes

Nose

Ripe red apple, baked pear, milk chocolate, vanilla and a hint of toasted hazelnut.

Palate

Smooth and rounded — apple compote, honey, malt biscuit, raisins, cinnamon and a touch of cocoa.

Finish

Medium length, sweet and warming, leaving cooked apple, vanilla and a lick of oak spice.

First Impressions

The Singleton of Glen Ord is the Asia-Pacific bottling of Diageo's Singleton range — three single malts from three distilleries, each tailored to a different market.

Distillery & Heritage

Glen Ord stands on the Black Isle near Muir of Ord, the only working distillery on the peninsula. Founded in 1838, it draws water from Loch nam Bonnach and Loch nan Eun and is one of the few distilleries with its own on-site maltings.

Tasting Notes in Detail

This is a deliberately approachable single malt — sweet, fruity, gently sherried and easy to drink. The European oak adds raisins and chocolate without dominating.

Verdict

An accomplished crowd-pleaser.
