Rebel 10 Year Single Barrel is the prestige expression of the Rebel family — a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon drawn from a single cask, matured for a full decade, and bottled at 100 proof. Distilled and aged at Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown, it represents what extended time in oak can do to the soft, honeyed foundation of a wheated mashbill.
Because it's a single barrel, each bottle will vary slightly, but the house character carries through. The nose is immediately richer than the standard Rebel — aged caramel, toasted pecan, dark honey, and polished leather, with dried fig lurking underneath. On the palate it turns silky and deep: butterscotch and candied orange peel give way to baked apple and oak-driven baking spice, all wrapped around that signature wheated softness.
The finish is where the decade really shows itself. It's long, contemplative, and dry in the best way, with caramelised sugar and warm leather fading slowly into oak tannin. There's no rush about it.
For a wheated bourbon at this age and this proof, the price is remarkable. It's a bottle that invites slow evenings and a single good glass — less a daily drinker than a reminder of what patience and a careful cask can accomplish.
