First Impressions

Bottled at 41% in a tall, slender bottle bearing the Welsh dragon, Myth is the gateway expression of Penderyn's Dragon Range — accessible, fruit-forward and unmistakably Welsh.

Distillery & Heritage

Penderyn began distilling in 2000 in the village of Penderyn on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons, becoming the first commercial Welsh whisky distillery in over a century. Using a unique Faraday single-pot still designed by Dr David Faraday, Penderyn produces a remarkably clean, high-strength spirit that takes cask influence beautifully. Myth matures in ex-bourbon barrels before a finishing period in Madeira casks.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The nose is gentle and inviting: vanilla cream, orchard fruit and a hint of honeyed apricot. The palate is silky and malt-driven, with raisin and baked pear from the Madeira finish layered over bourbon-cask sweetness. The finish is medium-length, leaving brown sugar and a soft tang of fortified wine.

Verdict

An easy-drinking, well-made Welsh single malt that punches above its modest price. Perfect for newcomers to Penderyn and a reliable everyday pour.
