Nc'nean Huntress Orchard Cobbler is the third release in the distillery's experimental Huntress series, and its origin is uniquely appealing. The spirit is produced only during the first week of the annual changeover between distillation recipes, when the cut points are deliberately altered to flood the spirit with fruity compounds that would normally be excluded. The result is captured in this highly fruit-forward expression.
Matured in 66% STR red wine casks, 31% bourbon casks and 3% sherry casks, all from 100% organic Scottish barley, the Orchard Cobbler lives up to its dessert-inspired name. The combination of the exceptionally fruity spirit and the STR wine cask influence creates something genuinely distinctive — tropical, jammy, with the warmth of a freshly baked cobbler.
Limited to 6,153 bottles globally, this is a release worth seeking out. Nc'nean's commitment to organic production, renewable energy and innovative whisky-making reaches one of its most delicious expressions here. The Huntress concept — capturing the fleeting, unrepeatable spirit of a specific production moment — adds a layer of romance that the quality of the liquid fully justifies. Named for a dessert, and every bit as satisfying as one.
