Fresh orchard fruit, citrus zest, creamy malt, light oak and a delicate smokiness.

Finish

Medium — fruity and clean with a gentle smoky, honeyed close.

First Impressions

Loch Lomond 12 is one of Scotch whisky's quiet bargains — a 46% ABV, non-chill-filtered single malt with a complex backstory.

Distillery & Heritage

Loch Lomond Distillery in Alexandria is one of the most unusual in Scotland. It's home to traditional swan-neck pot stills and a set of straight-necked pot stills with rectifying columns, allowing the distillery to produce a remarkable variety of single malt styles under one roof. The 12 Year Old is a marriage of three of those distillates.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The nose is bright and orchard-fresh: pear, green apple and vanilla, with just a whisper of peat smoke drifting in behind. The palate keeps the fruit front and centre, joined by creamy malt, citrus zest and a gentle smoky-honey finish.

Verdict

A genuinely characterful single malt at an everyday price.
