Tasting Notes

Nose

Buttery cornbread, vanilla custard, ripe banana, toasted oak and a whisper of cinnamon.

Palate

Rich and oily — sweet corn syrup, baked apple, dark honey, brown sugar and warm baking spices.

Finish

Long, sweet and gently spiced with lingering vanilla, char and a touch of orange peel.

First Impressions

Made from 70% New York organic corn and 30% English malted barley.

Distillery & Heritage

Founded in 2010 by Colin Spoelman and David Haskell inside a paint factory in East Williamsburg, Kings County became NYC's first whiskey distillery since Prohibition. It now occupies the historic Paymaster Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, distilling on small Scottish-built Forsyths pot stills — unusual for an American bourbon producer.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The pot-still character gives this bourbon a weight and oiliness most column-distilled Kentucky equivalents lack.

Verdict

One of America's most distinctive craft bourbons.
