This is not a novelty purchase. It is a serious single malt from a serious distillery, and it deserves a place on your shelf alongside the old guard.
I am giving this a 7.9 out of 10. It loses half a mark for the 40% bottling strength — I would love to see what this spirit could do at 43% or 46%, where I suspect additional texture and complexity would emerge. But within its parameters, this is a well-made, characterful whisky that represents genuine value and offers something meaningfully distinct from the Scottish mainstream.

Pour it neat at room temperature and give it five minutes to open up in the glass. If you find the initial impression a touch tight, a few drops of water will coax out the fuller character.
