Tasting Notes

Nose

Deep and complex — dried fruit, hazelnut, dark honey, sherry, tobacco leaf, sandalwood and a gentle ribbon of peat smoke.

Palate

Velvet-smooth and layered. Honey, sultana, dark chocolate, espresso, oak spice, hints of orange peel, then an elegant smoky thread weaving through.

Finish

Very long and warming, with smoke, spice, dried fruit and a signature lingering peppery kick.

First Impressions

Blue Label is the bottle that put luxury blended Scotch on the map.

Distillery & Heritage

Launched in 1992 by then-master blender Jim Beveridge as a tribute to the original Walker style of the 19th century, it's been the benchmark prestige blend ever since. Each bottle carries a unique serial number. The blend draws on rare and ageing parcels from across Scotland, with Royal Lochnagar (the Queen's whisky), Cardhu, Clynelish and Caol Ila among the recurring components.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The nose is layered and old-school: dried fruit, hazelnut, sherry, tobacco, sandalwood. The palate is silky and complex — honey, raisin, chocolate, coffee, oak — and the famously peppery, smoky finish is the unmistakable Walker signature taken to its highest expression.

Verdict

The gold standard for what a luxury blend can achieve.
