Tasting Notes

Nose

Magnificent sherry, heather smoke, dried fruit. Twenty-five years have produced a nose of extraordinary complexity and beauty. Raisin, dark chocolate, a gentle heathery smokiness, polished oak. Beneath it, honey, marzipan and a gentle maritime salinity. Each return to the glass reveals something new.

Palate

Sublime — dark fruit, honey, heather smoke, a gentle oak maturity. Twenty-five years of sherry cask maturation have created a whisky of breathtaking depth and harmony. Mid-palate brings espresso, dried orange, roasted nut and a gentle warming spice. The Orkney peat has mellowed into a whisper of heathery smoke that threads through the sherry richness. Perfect balance.

Finish

Extraordinarily long, with sherry, heather smoke and honeyed oak sustaining in a slow, magnificent fade.

Highland Park 25 Year Old is widely regarded as one of the greatest whiskies produced in Scotland — a claim that a quarter-century of critical acclaim and countless awards has thoroughly validated. Twenty-five years of maturation in a combination of first-fill and refill sherry casks, in the windswept warehouses of Orkney, have produced a whisky that achieves the rarest quality in Scotch: perfection.

The balance is extraordinary. The sherry influence — dark fruit, chocolate, marzipan — is rich and generous without being overwhelming. The Orkney heather peat — gentled by twenty-five years of maturation into a subtle, aromatic whisper — weaves through the sherry rather than competing with it. The oak has contributed depth and complexity without bitterness. And beneath it all, the Highland Park spirit — honeyed, malty, slightly maritime — provides a foundation of genuine excellence.

Highland Park 25 is one of those rare whiskies that justifies its premium price through sheer, undeniable quality. Everything that makes Highland Park distinctive — the heather peat, the sherry casks, the Orkney maritime influence, the honeyed malt — is present here at its most developed and most harmonious. It is a whisky for special occasions, for quiet contemplation, and for reminding yourself why you fell in love with Scotch whisky in the first place. Perfection, without qualification.
