First Impressions
The Glenrothes 18 sits at the heart of the Soleo Collection, the range relaunched in 2018 that returned the distillery to a focus on exclusively sherry-seasoned oak maturation.
Distillery & Heritage
Founded in 1879 in the village of Rothes, Glenrothes has long been one of the great Speyside sherry malts, supplying Cutty Sark and Famous Grouse while quietly building a single malt reputation through vintage releases. The Soleo name nods to the Andalusian sun-drying of sherry grapes.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose opens on figs poached in syrup, candied orange and vanilla custard, with cinnamon and clove drifting in behind. The palate is plush and layered.
Verdict
An exemplary 18 year old Speysider.
