First Impressions
Quinta Ruban is the most flamboyant of Glenmorangie's core extra-matured trio. Bumped from 12 to 14 years in 2019.
Distillery & Heritage
Glenmorangie's Tain stillhouse boasts the tallest stills in Scotland at 5.14 metres. Dr Bill Lumsden pioneered the modern extra-maturation programme here, and Quinta Ruban is its flagship expression. The name simply means 'Ruby Port' in Portuguese.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose is unmistakably port-cask but never sticky — orange oil, cocoa nibs, dried rose, walnut shell. The palate is where Quinta Ruban earns its reputation: chocolate orange in liquid form, with sandalwood, hazelnut praline, raisin and a beautifully judged tannic grip from the port wood.
Verdict
A genuine modern classic.
