First Impressions
Glenlivet 18 is the grown-up Speyside — deeper, richer and more complex than its younger siblings, but never losing the orchard-fruit clarity.
Distillery & Heritage
Crafted under former Master Distiller Jim Cryle and continued today by the Glenlivet team, the 18 Year Old is matured in a combination of first-fill and second-fill American ex-bourbon casks and European oloroso sherry oak. It has been one of the most decorated 18-year-old Scotches, regularly picking up gold medals at the IWSC and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose is rich and confident — dried fruit, toffee, orange peel, oloroso sweetness and polished oak. The palate is beautifully layered, with raisin, dark chocolate, candied citrus, baking spice and a creamy oak core.
Verdict
One of the great core-range 18-year-olds in Scotch.
