Tasting Notes

Nose

Honeyed malt, shortbread, candy apple, fig jam, almond torte, cranberry, raspberry, potpourri, tobacco, spicy tea — rich and inviting

Palate

Rich sherry — currants, dark berry cobbler, raw honey, candied orange, crème brûlée, marzipan — bittersweet barley meeting full-bodied sherry

Finish

Long and warming — baking spice fading into raspberry jam, orange marmalade, soft oak — 21 years beautifully integrated

First Impressions

Glengoyne 21 — 100% sherry oak, no peat, Scotland's slowest stills. 21 years on the Highland Line. Double Gold SF 2018. Drinkhacker: A-.

Tasting

Fig jam and almond torte nose. Rich sherry palate with currants, honey, and marzipan. Long, warming finish with raspberry jam and marmalade. Benchmark sherried Highland.

The Verdict

Glengoyne 21 earns an 8.5 — a benchmark for what unpeated, sherry-matured Highland whisky can achieve. At £130, strong value for 21 years of first-fill sherry. The slow distillation philosophy, fully realised.
