Tasting Notes

Nose

Polished oak, dried fig, beeswax, dark chocolate, tobacco and old oloroso.

Palate

Mellow and elegant — raisin, walnut, leather, cocoa, cinnamon and stewed orchard fruit.

Finish

Long and graceful, with cocoa, oak, dried fruit and a whisper of smoke.

First Impressions

Glenfarclas 25 is a study in restraint.

Distillery & Heritage

Founded in 1836 at the foot of Ben Rinnes, Glenfarclas has been owned by the Grant family since 1865 — six generations and counting. The house style is built on direct-fired stills (still!), Speyside spring water, and full-term maturation in first-fill and refill oloroso sherry casks.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The nose is mature and polished — old oak, dried fig, beeswax, dark chocolate, tobacco and a whiff of leather. The palate is mellow and elegant: raisin, walnut, leather, cocoa, cinnamon and stewed orchard fruit.

Verdict

One of the genuine great-value aged sherried Speysiders.
