First Impressions
Bottled at a confident 50% ABV and non-chill-filtered, the Glen Grant 15 Year Old is one of the cleanest, most elegant single malts in Speyside. Jim Murray named it World Whisky of the Year in his 2020 Whisky Bible — a vote of confidence that sent it flying off shelves.
Distillery & Heritage
Founded in 1840 in Rothes by brothers John and James Grant, Glen Grant is famous for its tall, slender stills and the use of purifiers — both of which strip out heavier compounds and produce an exceptionally light, fruity new make. Master distiller Dennis Malcolm, who has worked at the distillery for over 60 years, oversees one of the most distinctive house styles in Scotch.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose is bright and orchard-fresh — apple, pear and white grape with vanilla and almond blossom. The palate is crisp, clean and beautifully balanced, with vanilla cream, lemon zest and gentle oak spice. The finish is medium-long, fruity and clean.
Verdict
A masterclass in light, elegant Speyside whisky-making, the Glen Grant 15 punches well above its price point. One of the best-value 15-year-olds on the market.
