Eden Mill is a combined brewery and distillery in Guardbridge, near St Andrews in Fife. Operating from a converted paper mill on the Eden estuary, it was the first combined brewery-distillery in Scotland for over a century when it opened in 2012. The Hip Flask series is the early single malt release — young spirit presented in a format that acknowledges its developmental stage.
The whisky is inevitably young, and the Hip Flask format acknowledges this honestly. The spirit quality is clean and promising, with the brewery background evident in a distinctive cereal richness. The Lowland location and style suit the youthful spirit — light, fresh and approachable.
Eden Mill Hip Flask is a honest early release from a distillery that is still finding its feet as a whisky producer. The brewery expertise provides a strong foundation, and the Fife location — near some of Scotland's finest barley-growing land — adds potential. As the stocks mature, Eden Mill's whisky ambitions will be tested more seriously. For now, the Hip Flask offers a promising if modest preview.
