Tasting Notes

Nose

Intense rye spice, dark caramel, charred oak. The barrel proof gives Bulleit's high-rye character maximum intensity. Beneath the spice, dark toffee, dried fruit and a generous warmth. Bold.

Palate

Massive and spicy — rye pepper, dark caramel, a robust warmth. The barrel proof transforms the frontier bourbon into something genuinely powerful. Mid-palate brings dark chocolate, cinnamon and a dense warmth. Water helps.

Finish

Very long, with rye spice and dark caramel sustaining.

Bulleit Barrel Strength takes the high-rye frontier bourbon and presents it without dilution — typically above 60% ABV. The barrel proof format transforms Bulleit from an accessible everyday bourbon into something genuinely intense and rewarding.

The high-rye character is amplified dramatically. The peppery spice that defines Bulleit at standard proof becomes a wall of flavour at barrel proof, with dark caramel and charred oak providing counterbalance.

Bulleit Barrel Strength is the expression that reveals what the frontier bourbon is truly capable of. The additional proof adds intensity, depth and complexity that the standard 45% cannot match. Excellent value for a barrel-proof bourbon.
