Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich caramel, dried cherry, toasted oak. The fusion of older sourced bourbon with younger estate-distilled spirit creates a nose of unusual depth and harmony. Beneath the sweetness, vanilla, leather and a gentle spice.

Palate

Rich and layered — caramel, dark fruit, a gentle rye spice. The fusion concept — blending mature sourced bourbon with the distillery's own younger production — creates genuine complexity. Mid-palate brings brown sugar, cinnamon and a gentle warmth. At 98.9 proof, excellent body.

Finish

Long, with caramel and dark fruit sustaining warmly.

Bardstown Bourbon Company is one of Kentucky's most modern and ambitious distilleries — a facility built from the ground up with state-of-the-art equipment and a collaborative business model that produces bourbon for multiple brands. The Fusion Series blends older sourced bourbon from established Kentucky and Tennessee distilleries with the company's own younger distillate, creating a whiskey that develops as the proportion of estate bourbon increases with each release.

The Fusion concept is ingenious. By blending mature sourced stock with its own young production, Bardstown can release a quality product from day one while gradually increasing the proportion of estate-distilled bourbon with each subsequent batch. The result is a series that charts the distillery's own maturation journey — each release more 'Bardstown' than the last.

Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion is one of the most interesting new bourbons in Kentucky. The blending expertise is exceptional, the quality consistent, and the concept — transparently evolving from sourced to estate bourbon — is refreshingly honest in a market where provenance is often obscured. A distillery and a series worth following closely.
