Tasting Notes

Nose

Honeyed apricot, sandalwood, beeswax, dried orange peel and faint smoke.

Palate

Rich and creamy — honey, dried apricot, oak spice, dark chocolate, hazelnut and a velvety smoky undertone.

Finish

Very long, warming and silky with oak, honey and lingering soft peat.

First Impressions

Where the 17 dances, the 21 glides.

Distillery & Heritage

Master blender Sandy Hyslop draws on aged stocks from all five Scotch whisky regions — Highland, Speyside, Lowland, Islay and Campbeltown — a defining trait of the house since George Ballantine's 19th-century days.

Tasting Notes in Detail

The nose is honeyed and waxy — apricot, sandalwood, beeswax and dried orange peel with that familiar curl of distant smoke. The palate is rich, creamy and properly mature.

Verdict

One of the great aged blends.
