Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich sherry, dried fruit, a mature oak warmth. Eighteen years of bourbon and sherry cask maturation have produced genuine depth. Beneath the sherry, honey, dark chocolate and a gentle warmth. Composed and generous.

Palate

Sherried and mature — dried fruit, chocolate, a gentle oak spice. The double cask maturation creates a whisky with both bourbon sweetness and sherry richness. Mid-palate brings toffee, roasted nut and a gentle warmth. Well-integrated.

Finish

Long, with sherry warmth and mature oak sustaining.

Aberlour 18 Year Old Double Cask matures for eighteen years in a combination of American bourbon casks and oloroso sherry casks, which are then married together. The dual maturation and extended aging produce a Speyside malt of genuine depth and complexity.

Eighteen years allow both cask types to integrate fully. The bourbon provides vanilla and fruit, the sherry adds dried fruit and spice, and the extended maturation gives everything time to harmonise. The result is a composed, well-balanced Speyside of genuine maturity.

Aberlour 18 is one of the best-value eighteen-year-old sherried Speyside malts. The double cask maturation provides genuine complexity, the eighteen years provide genuine depth, and the price is competitive with less impressive alternatives. A reliable, rewarding aged Speyside.
