First Impressions
Aberlour 12 Double Cask is the bottle that introduced legions of drinkers to sherried Speyside malt.
Distillery & Heritage
James Fleming's 1879 distillery sits in the village of Aberlour, drawing soft water from the Lour burn. The double cask approach has been the house signature for decades.
Tasting Notes in Detail
The nose leads with sweet sherry — toffee apple, raisin, cinnamon and a curl of orange peel. The palate delivers honey-glazed almonds, dark chocolate and sultana, with ginger spice and creamy vanilla from the bourbon component balancing the richer sherry notes.
Verdict
A textbook Speyside double cask malt — generous, balanced and outstanding value.
