There is a lot to like about Talnua Olde Saint’s Keep on paper. At 100 proof and $100, let us see if it lives up to expectations.
Palate
Rich, delicious, and excellent for sipping. This is bottled at the proof around which adding a drop or two of water is understandable to open it up, but I found the density of flavor in a full-strength pour to be preferable.
Finish
Something like a pinot noir with a dash of pepper there is that unmistakable flavor of fruits that are somehow simultaneously juicy and dried with a long, leathery finish augmented by a slow-fading spicy tingle. Editor’s Note: This whiskey was either bought as a sample by Whiskeyful or provided to us as a review sample by the party behind it. Per our editorial policies, this in no way influenced the outcome of this review.
The Bottom Line
Talnua Olde Saint’s Keep is outstanding — one of those bottles that reminds you why you fell in love with whiskey in the first place. If you see it at $100, do not hesitate. This one earns a permanent spot on the shelf.
