Puncher’s Chance The Undisputed landed on my desk at 108 proof, carrying a $54.99 price tag. Here is what I found.
Nose
The nose on this is herbal, which I have not encountered so strongly before. I found mint, black currant tea, grass, honey dew melon, and clove. The sweetness of the underlying bourbon is there but tucked neatly away by the earthy herbal notes.
Palate
Starts off with a good pop! Its dry and even across the palate. It evolves into more traditional bourbon flavors, white sugar, young oak, before splashing with black tea. The finish hits with a burst of honey with the slightest hint of mint. It holds for enough time to enjoy the finish, but doesnt have the longest staying power. On at least one sip I found a hint of peanut butter right at the tail end of the sip.
Finish
This is a fun whiskey worthy of a pick-up! It doesnt retread the same ground of other heavy weights in the industry, and really tries to adapt its profile to be memorable for the drinker. It needs to age up a bit to really mature into a more rounded and full bodied whiskey. Punchers Chance is putting in the work and hitting the gym.rnrnToday I wouldnt call it a contender but I dont think they would either. However, its a nice little bottle and worthy of a pick-up for anyone looking for something a little different from the standard bourbon.
The Bottom Line
Puncher’s Chance The Undisputed delivers the goods. It is well-made, genuinely enjoyable, and at $54.99 represents solid value for what you are getting. I would happily buy this again.
