Old Forester 117 Series Warehouse H at 98 Proof — at $60, the question is whether it delivers on its promise. I sat down with a pour to find out.

Palate

This is a fine bourbon, geared especially towards bourbon aficionados who appreciate tasting unique expressions, just like most special releases tend to be. The fact that it is a 375ml means that if you can get one at retail, it allows you peel back one of the layers of what goes in to Old Forester’s batched releases. Very pleasant, classic Old Forester taste.rnrnIf you like Old Forester in general, you will also like this one. It doesn’t bring a whole lot that is new to the table, but it is also a good sipper. It is however all things considered, after sipping, not one of the most unique expressions. It is pleasant, and if you find at retail, do grab one. It will also make a great gift for someone who is a bourbon collector.

The Bottom Line

Old Forester 117 Series Warehouse H is a perfectly respectable whiskey that does what it sets out to do. At $60, the value is reasonable — it will not blow your mind, but it will not disappoint you either. A reliable choice.
