Bear Fight American Single Malt at 45% ABV — at $54.00/750ml bottle, the question is whether it delivers on its promise. I sat down with a pour to find out.
Nose
Bear Fight American Single Malt is sweet, full-bodied, and easy to drink. I found the peat finish overbearing when compared to the more delicate flavors of the nose, but it is still overall a good choice for mixing or sipping.
Palate
The palate hits strong after the easy opening, with an oversized punch of peat. Its tempered by notes of fig, currant, blackberry, and honey. Its full-bodied and smooth. There are hints of sherry and milk chocolate at the finish. Editor’s Note: This whiskey was either bought as a sample by Whiskeyful or provided to us as a review sample by the party behind it. Per our editorial policies, this in no way influenced the outcome of this review.
Finish
Aged a minimum of three years in bourbon casks, finished in peat-smoked oak and sherry casks. 45% ABV. Malted barley mash bill. SRP $54.00/750ml bottle.
The Bottom Line
Bear Fight American Single Malt delivers the goods. It is well-made, genuinely enjoyable, and at $54.00/750ml bottle represents solid value for what you are getting. I would happily buy this again.
