Nose
Colors of rich golden-brown and burnt-amber. Aromas of candied orange and molasses mingle with rich vanillas and fresh caramel.
Palate
Some producers of whiskey claim that between 10 and 12 years old is a real sweet spot for aging and this bourbon does a lot to substantiate that. The mix of the sweet wheat and the smoky scotch makes this release exceptionally well rounded. The only fault that I could find was that it lacked EVER-SO slightly (emphasis here on the ever-so) in the mid-palate and that is what kept me from giving it a full perfect score. If you have a chance to purchase this rare release, I highly recommend it.
Finish
11-year old wheated bourbon finished for one year in Islay scotch whiskey barrels. 111 Proof (55.5% abv). 750ml, MSRP $499.99. The whiskey ends with smooth notes of barrel spices that linger long after the whiskey is gone. It rewards patience and attention in equal measure, and we recommend it without reservation — though at $499.99. Colors of rich golden-brown and burnt-amber, one expects nothing less.
